New businesses have opened up


So far we have been successful with our goal of releasing at least 1 update a week. This week's update has a lot of new content and changes to how R&D works.

First, here are the changes:

  • Player now picks memos that they own at random on new runs.
  • Added 8 new businesses
  • Rebalanced existing business costs
  • Businesses are now randomized when scouting
  • Added projects and rebalanced existing projects
  • Added new Nepotism R&D unlock
  • Added new Vacation Policy R&D unlock
  • Improved Energized tooltip to make it more clear how it functions
  • Fixed a bug where roll results were spoiled by scout buttons and money display
  • Added more News headlines

The first thing you will notice is a new setup phase at the start of a run.


The memos you unlock in R&D will appear here randomly. This is a draft where you pick 1 or 2 of the selections for the current run. The goal here is to encourage the player to try different strategies for each run. We are working on add more randomization to runs in general which leads us to our next big feature: Randomized Businesses.

Previously, the game features the same businesses that would appear in the same order each run. Now, we doubled the number of possible businesses and they are randomized based on what "tier" each business is in.

For folks that have played the game enough, you will notice some new businesses in this screenshot. Each business now has exactly 2 projects that can appear. We are always working to improve the balance of the game so things may not perfect at the moment. We always welcome feedback in our Discord server.

We also added a couple new R&D unlocks, fixed bugs, and updated the news ticker with the latest and greatest.

I'm not exactly sure what is next but it will likely involve continuous balance improvements, more R&D unlocks, and bug fixes. My highest priority goal in terms of new game content is to add more events. Events are a lot of fun but also a good deal of work to think up and implement. I also know we need to enhance how events are chosen in the event system so there is a bit of architecture work to do before I can add more events. We will get there!
